PROGRAM STAFF

REV. FRED OPALINSKI, M. DIV.,
Pastor

Pr. Fred Opalinski is a native of Monessen, PA, with degrees from Thiel
College and the Lutheran Seminary at Gettysburg. He served congregations
in Mercersburg, PA (5 ½ years) and in Latrobe, PA (23 ½ years) before
coming to Reading.

He has served on numerous synodical and community committees, just recently completing a six-year term on the ELCA Church Council and Advisory Committee on Ecumenical Affairs. With a keen interest in ecumenism, he currently serves as vice-moderator of the Presbyterian Church (USA) Committee on Ecumenical Relations, has served as ELCA advisory delegate to the Presbyterian Church (USA) General Assembly, and was privileged to join Bp. Mark Hanson on a European Ecumenical Journey in March, 2003. In 2001, he also served for a month as visiting preacher at the Vienna Community Church in Austria. Pr. Opalinski has
an avid interest in worship, music and the arts, singing with several community groups over the years.

He is married to Janet (Kepple), a teacher with a shared interest in music. They have two children, Megan, a music theater graduate of Capital University, who will be doing graduate work in theater in New York City this Fall, and Kristen,
a recent graphic arts major from Augsburg College, hoping to settle in the Minneapolis area.

DEACONESS DEBORAH MATERN GRAF
Associate in Ministry

Deaconess Deborah Matern Graf is a consecrated deaconess of the Lutheran Church. She has served at Trinity Lutheran Church since June of 1999, called
to the areas of Christian Education, Youth Ministry, Mission and Service, and small group programming. She earned a B.A. in Theology from Valparaiso University with a minor in German. She received her certificate of consecration from the Lutheran Deaconess Association in 1990 and was rostered as an Associate in Ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in 1994.

Deborah was reared in Queens, New York, but has lived in many places. She has served in a variety of settings including outdoor ministries, Lutheran Social Services, and parish ministries. Prior to coming to Trinity, she served parishes in Wisconsin and eastern Germany. She has also been active in many ecumenical and community groups. In 2000, Deborah was appointed by Bishop Strobel to a Ministry Leadership Team of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod of the ELCA.

Deborah and her husband, Peter, keep active by playing recorder and guitar, traveling, and running after their children, Kathrine and Daniel.

DR. RÄNDEL WOLFE
Director of Music & the Arts

Dr. Rändel L. Wolfe joined Trinity as the Director of Music in October, 1999.
Dr. Wolfe holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from California Lutheran University, a Master of Sacred Music Degree from Wittenberg University, in Springfield, Ohio, and dual Doctorates of Musical Arts from the University of Kansas. He has also done post-graduate studies at University of Uppsala, Sweden; California State University, Bakersfield; and Moorpark College, California.

Before joining Trinity, Dr. Wolfe served as the Director of Music at St. Anselm's Chapel at the University of Kansas Episcopal Student Center. In addition, he was the Director of Worship and Music at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lawrence, Kansas. Other current and former positions include Staff Accompanist and Vocal Coach for the University of Kansas Department of Music, and Organist with the Kansas City Symphony. He directs the Choristers division of the acclaimed Berks Classical Children's Chorus, and performs organ recitals throughout the country. His debut performance with the Reading Symphony Orchestra occured in 2000.

Dr. Wolfe has received numerous honors and awards including several at the University of Kansas. He was a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society in 1999; he was a Nominee for the Graduate Teaching Assistant Award in 1996 and 1997, and was also a Nominee for the Graduate Student Award for Distinguished Service in 1996.

As a professional musician, Dr. Wolfe also maintains distinguished affiliations.
He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, the American Guild of Organists, the North American Guild of Carillonneurs, the Royal College of Organists, and a life membership in Phi Mu Alpha. He is a founding member of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians.

Dr. Wolfe relocated to Reading in October, 1999, and lives in the city's Centre Park Historic District.

REV. JEANNE BEADLE
Associate Pastor

Rev. E. Jeanne Beadle is the first woman to be called as a pastor at Trinity, where she serves the Trinity Deaf congregation. A graduate of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, she served as intern pastor to the deaf for two years prior to her call and ordination here on Feb. 23, 2003. She is one of only eight pastors serving deaf congregations in the ELCA.

A native of Pottstown, PA, Rev. Beadle is an alumnus of Albright College and Galluadet University. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Berks Hearing and Deaf Association is a volunteer chaplain at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

She and her husband, John, have two daughters, a son, and four grandchildren which keep them busy.
