Noonday Lenten Worship —“Neglected Voices”
Wednesdays, February 24 - March 24 (Chapel), followed by lunch (Hintz Room)
Join us at 12:05 on Wednesdays (Feb. 24, March 3, 10, 17, 24) for a interesting look at some of the lesser-known characters in the Bible, relating to issues of faith such as trust, servanthood, courage and promises. A delicious soup/salad/sandwich luncheon follows at 12:30. Invite a friend or co-worker to join you!
Lenten Book Discussion Series
Tuesdays in Lent, February 23 — March 23
6:30 pm (Auditorium)
Tuesday Evening light supper and conversations following a book by Frank Honeycutt. Trinity and Christ Church friends will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Trinity for salad and soup or pizza, with donations (beyond food costs) going to Haiti relief. Please purchase a book at the office (subsidized at $15), sign up, and let us know if you’re able to help with food prep or cleanup. The book includes readings for the Easter, Pentecost and Advent seasons as well.
Chili Cook-off and Swap Meet

After 11:00 worship on Sunday, March 7, you are invited to participate in Trinity’s Chili Cook-off and Swap Meet. You can cook your favorite chili or come to sample all the offerings and vote for your favorites. Please sign up to cook on the sheet in the annex hallway.
For the Swap Meet, we invite you to share your gently used books, CDs, DVDs or house wares with other Trinity folks. Please bring your items for the swap to the Auditorium by Sunday, February 28. We’ll organize them and on March 7 you can peruse the available items and take home some that are interesting or useful to you.
Trinity Youth Gather for the 30-Hour Famine
March 12-13
“Every seven seconds, a child dies because of hunger related causes”
This month, our youth group is participating in World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine. We’re fasting for 30 hours to find out what hunger feels like—and to raise funds to help hungry children and their families. We will meet at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church at 8:00 p.m. The fast will conclude with communion at the 5:00 worship service. We will then share in a light supper of soup and bread. Come join us if you can.
Donations will be given equally to ELCA World Hunger Appeal, and the Lutheran Pantry. Please consider sponsoring our fabulous youth for the famine.

The Rev. Cheryl Meinschein, pastor at Christ Mertz Lutheran Church in Dryville, will be our guest speaker to share her mission group’s experiences in Haiti during the recent earthquake. Please sign up on the annex bulletin board by March 10 and make your payment to Trinity, memo: Lenten Prayer Breakfast.
Holy Communion Class
Saturday, March 27 at 10 a.m.
Our Holy Communion classes are open to families and children of all ages. Pastor O. and Deaconess Deborah will be co-teaching this interactive class that helps us learn more about the Eucharist. Children will celebrate communion at the Maundy Thursday service on April 1st. (We will have a reception in their honor prior to the service.) Please sign up by calling the church office by March 15.
Holy Week 2010
Palm/Passion Sunday: March 28
Worship at 8:30 am in the Chapel and 11:00 am in the Nave. Weather permitting, we will gather in the courtyard for a palm procession before 11:00 worship.
Intergenerational Lent Event at 9:30 am.
Maundy Thursday: April 1
Holy Communion at 7:30 pm in the Nave. This service will be broadcast live on Comcast Channel 21.
Good Friday: April 2
Worship based on “The Seven Last Words of Christ” from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm in the Nave. Please come and go as you are able.
Easter Vigil: April 3
Shared worship with Christ Episcopal Church in the Trinity nave at 7:30 pm. Weather permitting, we’ll begin in the courtyard for our Pascal Candle lighting. An “Easterfest” will follow in the Hintz Room.
Easter Sunday: April 4
Holy Eucharist at 8:30 am and 11:00 am in the Nave. Easter Breakfast at 9:30 am in the Hintz Room (bring a dish to share). Holy Laughter at 10 a.m.
Egg Hunt for children at 10:15 am in the courtyard—bring a basket! |
